Mr Mahmood graduated from Cambridge University in 1997 and trained as an ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. In 2006 he did a one year medical retina senior clinical and research fellowship at Royal Liverpool University Hospital. In 2008 He was appointed as a consultant ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital with subspecialist expertise in medical retina.
Mr Mahmood is now clinical lead for the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital macular treatment centre and is experienced in all the latest treatments for macular conditions. He is also a highly experienced cataract surgeon. He is active in teaching and research and organises postgraduate teaching for ophthalmic trainees in the region. He holds an honorary clinical lectureship with the University of Manchester and is on the Royal College of Ophthalmologists council as representative for the North West region.
