Biography

Javier graduated from medical school in 1992 at the University of  Barcelona in Spain and completed his speciality training in ophthalmology 7 years later both in the UK and Spain. He worked a as a consultant glaucoma surgeon at Hospital Universitario Sagrado Corazon for 14 years, a busy central hospital in Barcelona he directed from 2008 to 2013. For two further years he directed the Institut Catala de la Salut regional services of ophthalmology in Tarragona, Spain.

Javier moved to the UK in 2016, to support the cataract services of the independent sector in Hampshire. Passionate about cataract surgery, Javier is a member of the European society of cataract and refractive surgeons and a surgical fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has over 20 years experience working as a cataract surgeon during which period he has performed more than 14.000 cataract procedures and over 1000 other anterior segment operations.
