Biography

George has 25 years’ experience as a Consultant Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon and Specialist based at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He is well known both for his practical skills, and extensive experience both as practitioner, teacher and researcher in medical and surgical retina.

During his career his breadth of commitment to improvement of ophthalmic care on a local, national and international stage was manifest by periods as Training Programme Director, Chairman of the STC locally in the North West, nationally as a member of the Training and Professional Standards Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist for whom he has also been an examiner and workforce specialist. Internationally George spent 5 years as the UK’s representative on the European Council of Ophthalmology. No longer involved in medical politics he now offers his extensive experience, dedication and expertise solely for the benefit of his many patients in both the public and private sectors.
