Making specialist eye consultations accessible to the Berkshire community
Leading eye care hospital group, Optegra, has teamed up with a Maidenhead clinic to bring its expertise and advice direct to the heart of the community.
The new partnership has opened within The Windsor Eye Clinic, which is part of Maidenhead’s The Bridge Clinic on Bridge Road, and was the brain child of local ophthalmic surgeon, Mr Sundeep Kheterpal.
He says: “As a consultant surgeon for Optegra at their Surrey Eye Hospital, it was a natural progression to bring their expertise and resources to Maidenhead to enhance the services available to local people, particularly in refractive surgery.
“The Bridge Clinic has consultants and specialists covering a wide range of medical problems from general surgery, gynaecology, dermatology, cardiology, urology and many others. We have had a specialist eye clinic here in Maidenhead for a number of years and our partnership with Optegra allows us to really increase the range of services and procedures we can offer for patients with eye problems.
“We can diagnose in the convenience of the local clinic, and then easily arrange surgical procedures at Optegra – particularly for laser treatment or Clarivu permanent lens replacement which is an ideal option for the over 50’s, whose eye sight is naturally beginning to deteriorate due to presbyopia. Clarivu permanently corrects refractive errors such as long and short-sightedness, and astigmatism and can give freedom from glasses and contacts. With Clarivu, the replacement lens can focus at different distances, giving clear vision for everything from close up to far away. It also prevents and eliminates cataracts in one simple 20 minute procedure.”
The Windsor Eye Clinicis a state-of-the art diagnostic centre and offers expert consultant surgeons, world-class facilities and leading edge surgery to people in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, Surrey, Oxon and the surrounding areas. The new clinic, in partnership with Optegra, runs fortnightly on Wednesday mornings between 9:00am am and 1:00pm, with further dates and times being offered in the near future. Appointments can be booked by calling Optegra on tel: 0800 368 4848 or by calling the Windsor Eye Clinic on tel: 0845 8622299.
Farzam Jafari, hospital manager for Optegra Surrey Eye Hospital, which is based in Guildford, said: “This is our first local outreach clinic in the area and it is wonderful to bring our experts and equipment into the community, making our services so easily available. Our partnership with Mr Kheterpal and his team means we are offering the best diagnostics, the best staff, equipment and treatment.
“This new clinic in Maidenhead is an exciting opportunity to let local people know about our full range of treatments as well as offering advice on all aspects of eye care and eye health.”
