Leading eye care hospital group, Optegra, has teamed up with the long-established Jersey Eye Centre to bring its expertise and advice direct to the heart of the community.
The new partnership has opened within the Jersey Eye Centre and will combine the expertise of Mr Richard Downes with Optegra Solent Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr David Anderson.
Mr Anderson says: “It was a natural progression to bring our expertise and resources to Jersey having established a successful partnership for many years. We are now able to further enhance the services available to local people, particularly in refractive surgery and laser vision correction, in which we have world class facilities.”
Optegra is a specialist eye hospital group which offers a range of treatments including options for people to have a life without glasses. Whatever the prescription, there are procedures available – from laser surgery, to ClarivuTM permanent lens replacement which is ideal for people over 50 whose eye sight is naturally beginning to deteriorate.
To find out more about the new clinic and the procedures which Optegra offers, local people are invited to an Open Evening on Thursday 16 May, at Hotel du France, St Saviours Road, St Helier, JE1 7XP from 6.30pm to 8.30 pm.
First consultations with David Anderson will take place on Friday 17th May, where patients can then discuss their suitability for laser eye surgery or Clarivu.
All consultations will take place at the Jersey Eye Centre located conveniently at Lido Medical Centre, St Saviours Road, St Helier.
Mr Anderson explains: “We are able to consult and advise with the convenience of an established local clinic, then arrange surgery where this best suits the patient and their needs – Clarivu is available either locally or at Optegra Solent Eye Hospital, and laser is available at Optegra Solent.”
Clarivu permanently corrects refractive errors such as long and short-sightedness, and astigmatism, and can give freedom from glasses and contacts. With Clarivu, the replacement lens can focus at different distances, giving clear vision for everything from close up to far away. It also prevents and eliminates cataracts in one simple 20 minute procedure.
The new clinic, named Optegra Outreach Clinic in Jersey will run every two months with further dates and times being offered in the near future. Appointments can be booked by calling Optegra.
Sue Coleman, Hospital Manager for Optegra Solent Eye Hospital, said: “This is our first local outreach clinic in the area and it is wonderful to bring our experts and equipment into the Jersey community, making our services so easily available. This outreach clinic means we are offering the best diagnostics, the best staff, equipment and treatment to Jersey residents.”
