Optometry Conference of Central and South-Eastern Europe

The second Optometry Conference of Central and South-Eastern Europe was held in Rovinj, Croatia from 29th May to 1st June 2014.  After the success in 2012 the conference was organised by the University of Applied Science Velika Gorica, Croatia, and more than 400 attendees from various countries in Europe participated.

Key note speakers included; Dr Julie-Anne Little and Dr Shezhad Naroo and they provided an insight in their research topics; OCT imaging and contact lens fitting. The conference topics discussed during this three day event included; optical technology, contact lenses, eye health and refractive surgery.

The presentation from Optegra Eye Sciences was entitled ‘Review of refractive lens exchange options to correct presbyopia’ and gave an overview about different premium IOL options that surgeons and patients can chose from.  The advantages of femtosecond-laser assisted cataract surgery were also discussed. The lecture was presented by Dr Andreas Hartwig and co-authored by Dr Hema Radhakrishnan, Dr Clare O’Donnell and Mr Shafiq Rehman.
