Mr Moriarty qualified in medicine from Cambridge University. He continued his training in ophthalmology while working in Bristol, London, Windsor and St Paul’s Eye Hospital in Liverpool. In 1987 he was appointed as fellow to the department of Glaucoma at Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in London.
