Ms de Benito Llopis is an experienced cornea, cataract and laser eye surgeon. She was fellowship trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Ms de Benito Llopis was awarded a PhD for her thesis on corneal wound healing after laser eye surgery. She graduated top of her year at medical school.


Ms de Benito Llopis has worked as a consultant since 2005 and at St Thomas’ since 2012. She has published over 30 papers and is an invited speaker at a number of international meetings. She is involved in teaching on a number of national and international surgical courses. Ms de Benito is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology as well as the European and American societies of cataract, cornea and refractive surgeons.

Ms de Benito Llopis is the lead for the cataract department at St Thomas’ Hospital. She has experience with the different types of lenses available: monofocal, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses.

She has worked since 2005 as a laser eye surgeon. Her PhD thesis dealt with clinical results and corneal wound healing following laser eye surgery, and she has published numerous papers on these subjects.
She trained as a cornea specialist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and continues this sub-specialty at her current job at St Thomas’ Hospital and at weekly clinics at Moorfields Eye Hospital at St Ann’s.

Ms de Benito Llopis was a Lecturer at the Master program for Optometrists of the European University of Madrid and Vissum-Madrid, Spain, from October 2005 till June 2011.

Personal
Ms de Benito Llopis moved to the UK in 2012 after marrying a British doctor. They have two daughters.

She likes swing dancing and learning languages. She speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian.
