Optegra opens new flagship eye hospital in Whiteley, Hampshire

Optegra officially opened its fourth specialist private eye hospital in Whiteley, Hampshire today with The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Richard Izard in attendance.

Optegra has invested over £2.2m in the very latest state-of-the art surgical and diagnostic equipment to provide the very best clinical outcomes for patients and the very latest laser surgery techniques, all carried out in ultra-clean theatre environments. Solent Eye Hospital is a 13,000 sq ft facility, which is the only specialist private eye hospital of its kind in the region. 19 consultant level ophthalmic surgeons, all of whom are leaders in their field and share Optegras passion for providing unrivalled levels of service and patient satisfaction, will practice at Solent Eye Hospital. The Optegra patient experience focuses on personalised treatment tailored to each patient to ensure the best possible results in calm, comfortable environments in which our patients can feel relaxed and well cared for.

Solent Eye Hospital will offer a complete range of eye care related treatments to help give people a whole new quality of life with freedom from glasses. Treatments available include: Vision Correction (Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and laser surgery) cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cosmetic eye surgery.

A key area of competency for Optegra is Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) for the correction of Presbyopia, which is a procedure during which the existing lens – which hardens over time – is replaced with a new lens that is precisely customised to the individuals requirements. RLE enables simultaneous correction of both long and short-sightedness, restoring ability to focus at an object in the distance, right through to reading the newspaper without the need for glasses. Whats more, the new lenses never develop cataracts and as this is something experienced by 70% of 70 year olds its good to know that all Optegra RLE patients will never have to face this problem.

The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Richard Izard officially opened Solent Eye Hospital at 11am today with Justin Annett, Sales & Marketing Director, of Optegra. Justin Annett commented on the opening: ” I believe that Solent will be a centre of excellence in eye care to provide the local population of Hampshire with expert diagnosis and treatment of all eye conditions, cutting edge research, medical expertise and unrivalled patient focused care and we look forward to welcoming new patients to our new state of the art eye hospital.”
