UCVA - Uncorrected Visual Acuity - A term referring to the recorded vision of the eye without the aid of spectacles or contact lenses.


Ultrasound - Sound waves of high frequency (above 20 kHz), that are above the range audible to the human ear. Can be used to produce images of the internal structures of the eye and due to its vibratory effect, can also be used in cataract surgery to break up the lens (Phacoemulsification).


Unilateral - Refers to the use or treatment of only one eye.


Uveitis - Inflammation of any part of the uveal tract in the eye which incorporates the iris, the ciliary body and the choroid.
