Optegra offer the best possible prices for our eye treatments. There are no hidden fees, and we explain all our prices up front. If you have a query about any aspect of our pricing, talk to one of our team and we will explain this to you in detail. There are two sections to the fees below, one for medical eye conditions for patients who have a cataract, AMD, glaucoma or retinal condition for example. The second set of fees are for refractive conditions, where patients may wish to eliminate wearing glasses, such as laser vision correction or lens implants.
Initial Consultation: £175*
This includes a two hour, rigourous eye examination by a clinical technician, an optometrist and lastly your consultant surgeon. You will quite literally have your eyes checked and analysed from every angle using the advanced diagnostic equipment we have. This is the perfect opportunity for you to talk over your requirements with your Consultant Surgeon who will be able to advise on the best course of action.
Procedure cost: The cost very much depends on the type of treatment you are having as each treatment is individually tailored to each patient, however as a guide some fees are listed below. You will be told of the cost for your individual treatment when you have your consultation.
Retinal Procedure: From £2,225 per eye
Cataract Procedure: From £2,195 per eye
Cosmetic Procedure: From £657 per eye
Corneal Cross Linking: £1,500 per eye
Topography Guided Cross Linking: £3,545 per eye
Post procedure medication: No charge
Follow-up Consultation: No Charge
If follow-up consultations continue past three months after your procedure, a fee may be payable. However, you will be notified of any necessary charges in plenty of time.
Covered by medical insurance?
Optegra are recognised by all major medical insurers. If you have medical insurance and would like to use this to cover the cost of treatment, it is important to contact your insurer before you commence your treatment. If you wish for a member of the patient liaison team to speak with your insurer on your behalf, we will be happy to do that.
* On occassion, our surgeons have recommend that a patient would benefit from an additional diagnostic test, due to the nature of their condition. Should this be the case, yuou will be advised prior to the additional test as these are charged separately.
Initial Consultation: No charge
Allow approximately two hours for a rigorous eye examination by Optegra's clinical team, optometrist and Consultant Surgeon. Procedure cost:
LASIK and LASEK laser vision correction: (Wavefront optimised) £1,895 per eye

Covered by medical insurance?
Refractive treatments are a elective, and therefore not covered by private medical insurance. However, if you are having a cataract procedure and would like to "upgrade" your lens to a refractive lens instead of a monofocal, your insurer may pay for part of your refractive procedure to cover the cataract cost. Each insurer is different however, so it is important to speak with them before you commence your treatment.
Optegra accepts payment from all major debit or credit cards except for American Express and Diners Club. Unfortunately we are unable to accept cash.
Payment is required at least 5 days before your surgery day, unless your private medical insurance covers your care. If you use your private medical insurance, please be sure to give the authorisation code to the Optegra team prior to your surgery date.
Interest-free credit
We offer 12 months interest free credit which is available on request and is subject to status; terms and conditions apply. If you wish to apply for interest-free credit when you come for your consultation, it is important to remember some personal documents for the application. You will need a recent utility bill (or similar) for proof of your address, and you passport or driving license (both parts). If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, you will need your bank details to hand.
Longer repayment terms and interest bearing repayments are also available, subject to status. Please call 0800 358 0825 for more details.
