Surgery with drops vs drop-free

My vision had deteriorated over the last few years and I couldn’t see anything clearly on the other side of the room. I had to move closer to the television to be able to read subtitles etc. It was getting very frustrating, that’s when I decided to get my eyes tested.

Putting the drops in after my first eye surgery was very inconvenient, especially while at work. I tried to space them out over the day but usually forgot the midday one so had to fit it in later. I also found that putting the drops in could be awkward, sometimes I would miss my eye or put too much in. It wasn’t a painful experience but just stung for a while.

My second eye experience was very different, I was very nervous at the thought of having an injection but my surgeon was lovely and reassured me that I wouldn’t feel it. My eye stung a little after the surgery but I resisted painkillers and got an early night instead. In the morning my eye felt fine, no problems at all. The recovery period after my second eye has been much shorter and easier – not having to remember the drops was a bonus!

My vision now is really good, everything is so bright and colourful. I wear sunglasses if the day is sunny as it’s too bright for me, and I do still wear glasses to read but I don’t need my glasses for driving anymore. I’ve had to move my chair further away from the television now and have a job of getting rid of all the cobwebs that I couldn’t see before.

I would definitely recommend the drop-free surgery as it’s so convenient and hassle free without the drops to do religiously. My recovery after my second eye has been a lot quicker and it’s just been amazing. I cannot thank Optegra enough.
