Jemma Optegra UK1. What key tasks and responsibilities does your job involve?
I work on national advertising campaigns and have a close link with our Contact Centre too. I gather PR stories and testimonials from patients and have also had the opportunity to lead a laser project. It is my responsibility to keep Optegra’s website up to date and refreshed and to ensure we are using social media effectively. I also work regionally with the Hospital Managers to support and develop their local campaigns, and ensure that our Brand is reported correctly and our brand guidelines are adhered to internally and externally.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I am involved in the full Marketing Mix – every day is different. I get to be creative but I can also use tools available to analyse the success of the marketing tools and campaigns we are using.

3. What do you enjoy about working for Optegra in general?
The people – our values and the way we recruit. We all work towards the same goal and values and everyone gets excited about it!

4. How would you describe the working culture at Optegra?
We need to be professional but, at the same time, we are friendly and fun. It is a nice balance and everyone helps each other with a professional tone throughout. Management are keen on work-life balance – if you are stressed they will recognise this and try to support you.

5. What, if anything, positively differentiates Optegra as an employer from other places you have worked previously?
We treat our customers as people – we don’t try and pull the wool over their eyes – we are open, honest and transparent. The benefits are good – holidays, Private Medical Insurance, discounts on laser and other treatments.

6. What has surprised you most about Optegra since you joined?
Even though we have separate hospitals around the UK, we can all pull together really well. It has surprised me how quickly we have grown and how advanced we are for a still relatively small company. Our Research and Development section is advanced and pushing new ideas forward all the time. Having a celebrity at the forefront of our brand now is fantastic and helps make us a powerful company.

7. How would you describe your team and colleagues where you work?
I work at Head Office and the atmosphere is lovely. It has been refurbished and is open plan too so it is easy going and people literally go out of their way to help. If someone has a bad day, there is always someone who will notice and support.

8. What are you most proud of about what you do at Optegra?
We are changing people’s lives. Everything I do is aiming to bring in new patients and ensure their pathway at Optegra is right for them. Our patient testimonials tell us that we have literally changed their lives. We have helped them by offering them things they didn’t know they could have – it gives a warm feeling inside.
