Biography

Mr. Sandhu is a leading ophthalmic surgeon specialising in anterior segment conditions, external eye diseases, cataract, cornea, and ocular surface transplantation. He completed his post-graduate ophthalmic training in Newcastle and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Research from Newcastle University, where he graduated with distinction.

He furthered his training at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he obtained a fellowship in anterior segment, corneal, and external eye surgery. In 2021, he received certification in Laser Refractive Surgery from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (CertLRS). Currently, Mr. Sandhu serves as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the renowned Ophthalmology department of the Royal Victoria Infirmary, part of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His areas of expertise include anterior segment conditions, external eye diseases, cataract, and cornea.

Mr. Sandhu achieved a significant milestone by performing the first Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) corneal transplantation surgery in Newcastle. He is passionate about teaching and training and was previously a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ national Ophthalmic Training Group. Currently, he continues to play a pivotal role as a clinical and educational supervisor for aspiring ophthalmic surgeons, shaping the future of the profession while remaining dedicated to his own professional growth.
