Optegra Eye Hospital Central London recently opened its doors for a special milestone, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its flagship facility on Queen Anne Street. The event brought together a community of ophthalmic specialists, dedicated hospital staff, prospective patients and patients whose lives have been transformed by the hospital’s care since its inception in 2015.

Ten Years of Innovation and Care

Since first welcoming patients a decade ago, the hospital has delivered over 17,750 life-changing treatments. From correcting common refractive errors to treating complex conditions, the facility has remained at the forefront of the UK’s eye care sector.

Amir Hamid, Optegra’s Chief Medical Officer, reflected on the hospital’s evolution: “We have adapted to changing needs over the past decade, not least the impact of Covid, as well as embracing the latest technologies – from the very best intraocular lenses and lens replacement procedures to SMILE keyhole laser eye surgery and, most recently, Valeda for Dry AMD.”

A State-of-the-Art Facility in the Heart of London

The flagship hospital is as unique in its architecture as it is in its medical offerings. Spanning six floors, the facility was created by merging two neighbouring properties to create a bespoke, high-tech environment.

The hospital currently features:

  • A dedicated laser suite for vision correction.
  • Specialised ophthalmic theatres for complex surgeries.
  • 11-bed day ward for patient recovery and comfort.
  • Modern consultation rooms equipped with the latest diagnostic tools.

Improving Quality of Life

The heart of the celebration was the patients. Over the last 10 years, the hospital has specialised in a wide range of treatments, including cataract surgery, lens replacement, and light-based therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

“We are incredibly proud to have helped thousands of patients improve and restore their vision over the past decade, enhancing quality of life for so many,” said Mykal Keenan, Senior Hospital Manager. “Bringing together patients, clinicians, and staff created a fantastic atmosphere as we celebrated ten years of outstanding outcomes and raised a glass to many more!”

As Optegra Central London looks toward its second decade, the focus remains clear: continuing to embrace medical advancements to ensure that world-class eye care is accessible to all.
