Diane Regan - "Seen quickly and treatment carried out almost immediately, very efficient."
What is it?
Your local Optegra Eye Clinic is looking for a local hero to whom we can gift free vision correction surgery.
We are launching a community campaign in Brighton and Newcastle to reward and celebrate an inspirational individual who has made a meaningful contribution and difference to their local community. This could be through voluntary work, care, leadership or inspiration. In other words, someone who would be considered a local community champion.
We invite you to nominate someone you believe deserves recognition in your local community.
The winning ‘local hero’ will receive free vision correction treatment – one patient at Optegra Eye Clinic Brighton and one at Optegra Eye Clinic Newcastle – subject to clinical suitability*.
*If this nominee is not suitable for VC surgery, Optegra to provide a £300 Vision Express voucher towards future glasses/contacts as a thank you. We then invite the next person in our shortlist of potential willing nominees to eye health checks.
How it works
You must live 30 miles from either Brighton or Newcastle.
Please nominate an individual who you know would like to be free of glasses/contact lenses and who displays one or more of these criteria:
- An individual making a community impact
Making a positive, measurable difference in the local area (e.g. helping vulnerable people or groups, improving wellbeing, providing supporting services). - Selflessness/altruism
Acts primarily for the benefit of others, often without expectation of reward or recognition. - Commitment and consistency
Ongoing dedication over time, not just a one-off act (unless it’s truly exceptional). - Initiative and leadership
Shows initiative, creativity, or leadership in solving local problems or bringing people together. - Inspiration to others
Motivates others in the community to get involved, volunteer, or make a difference.
The nominee must…
… currently wear glasses or contacts and have confirmed they would like to be considered for vision correction surgery*
… be over 18 years old and live within a 30-mile radius of the Optegra Newcastle or Brighton eye clinic
… be willing to share their vision correction story plus photography with media (including newspaper, online, radio and social media)
*Optegra Eye Clinic Brighton or Newcastle will complete all diagnostic tests to ensure the individual is suitable to have safe and effective vision correction surgery.
