Optegra’s Newcastle eye clinic allows local people easy access to ophthalmic assessment and treatment – specifically for NHS cataract surgery. As part of a network of dedicated eye hospitals throughout the UK and Europe, Optegra is helping to increase the number of patients who can access NHS care – and help reduce their waiting times for treatment.

The NHS waiting list for cataract surgery is larger than ever before, with some patients being told they will have to wait over a year. Through NHS partnership with Optegra, however, GPs and opticians can refer patients to Optegra Newcastle for treatment within just weeks.

Optegra Eye Clinic Newcastle is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Optegra eye hospital group is rated five-star by independent review sites Doctify and Trust Pilot.

How to secure referral to Optegra

If you have been diagnosed with a cataract and are keen to have treatment sooner rather than later, Optegra Newcastle will be able to help.

Cataract can develop slowly over time, causing blurred vision, clouding of vision and even double vision for some people. As it happens so gradually, patients often do not realise how badly their eyesight had deteriorated until they have the actual treatment — and then they say they can see in HD!

The procedure is pain-free and the most commonly performed elective surgery in the NHS — it takes only around 20 minutes and is conducted as a day case procedure with no need for any overnight stays.

To secure your own timely NHS treatment at Optegra Newcastle, simply ask your GP or community optician to refer you.
