Commenting on the decision to approach Fight for Sight, Optegra Managing DirectorRory Passmore, says…

    Optegra Managing Director

We have a number of hospitals and out-reach clinics which are eager to participate in charity work, as well as a commitment within head office. We felt that combining forces and dedicating all our charitable work to one core organisation would be the most effective route.

Both organisations are eager to share their knowledge and expertise within the ophthalmic field, whilst raising much-needed funds.

The charity’s focus on eye research also provides a perfect synergy with Optegra’s not-for-profit research and development division, Optegra Eye Sciences.  With Fight for Sight’s 150 plus different research projects into over 100 eye conditions, this was the perfect partnership for the two enterprises.

Optegra has appointed a Charity Committee which will review all the company’s UK charity events and fundraising by individuals and teams and look to match their efforts by up to 50 per cent.

We are thrilled that Optegra have selected Fight for Sight as their charity partner for the next two years. Our work together will create many exciting opportunities to help raise the importance of eye health and much needed funds for eye research.

    Charity Calendar

Optegra staff and their families got involved in creating images for a 2016 charity calendar which is being sold to raise funds for Fight for Sight – with the best entry winning a prize. These are available to buy for £5 each at any of our eye hospitals.

    Feast Your Eyes

Feast Your Eyes ran in October 2015 and was sponsored by Optegra. The aim was to encourage individuals and organisations to challenge their senses by dining in the dark.  From cheese and wine, lunch with friends, to a restaurant take over, there were lots of ways to get involved and raise money to help fund a future everyone can see.

Optegra hosted our own fundraising events in October to support the Feast Your Eyes campaign:

Our Manchester eye hospital invited people to guess the mystery ingredient in their cake sale – and raised over £150.

The team at our Birmingham eye hospital held a cake sale and raised over £180.
