Mr Felipe Eduardo Dhawahir-Scala is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Retinal Specialist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the world renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Mr Dhawahir-Scala is the Director of the Acute Ophthalmic Services at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He has been working in Optegra Eye Hospital Manchester since 2012 and is also a consultant at Optegra Eye Hospital London. He qualified from Madrid Complutense University in Spain and he trained in ophthalmology in the West Midlands and Northwest of England. He has introduced several new technologies and concepts to the ophthalmic world at a national and international level.

He is actively involved with research, teaching and training of Postgraduates and Undergraduates. He is involved in training Vitreoretinal Surgeons and Medical Retina Specialists worldwide, as part of the world renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital Vitreoretinal and Medical Retina Fellowship. He is one of the founders of the British Emergency Eye Care Society, for which he holds the position of Vice-President. He is an Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow for the FRCS Ophthalmology Exam. He is a scientific reviewer for the Cochrane Eyes and Vision Group and several international journals and has a long history of research and lecturing. He has published multiple scientific papers and has given more than 200 presentations at home and abroad.

He is proficient in English, Spanish and Arabic.

Mr Dhawahir-Scala specialises in surgery and disorders of the posterior (back) segment of the eye. His area of expertise are retinal surgery, Age related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, complex cataract surgery and acute / urgent ophthalmic diseases.
