Mr. Arbabi is consultant ophthalmologist who specializes in corneal transplant, cataract, refractive & laser refractive surgery.
He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Leeds before being awarded a national training number in ophthalmology. During eight-years Ophthalmic Specialist Training, Mr Arbabi gained a wealth of experience working at hospitals across the United Kingdom. This included completing one year of Advanced Sub-Specialty Training in Corneal and Laser Refractive Surgery at St Jame’s University Hospital, Leeds, and completing an extended corneal and refractive surgery fellowship at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He further reinforced his knowledge and expertise by completing a Master’s degree (MSc) in the fields of cataract and laser refractive surgery from the University of Ulster in association with Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is one of the very few ophthalmologists to have been awarded this prestigious degree. He also holds the highly regarded Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (CertLRS) which is an accreditation achieved through completing a rigorous examination process by the Royal College of ophthalmologists.
Mr. Arbabi is currently the Lead Refractive Consultant at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust, where he has honed his talent and pioneering expertise in the field of laser and refractive surgery. He specializes in corneal transplant, cataract & laser refractive surgery.
Passionate about the advancements of research, Mr. Arbabi has been involved as a principal investigator in a large multinational clinical trial for eye drops. Mr. Arbabi’s latest research project involves finding a way to further improve the refractive results for millions of patients who undergo cataract surgery by incorporating a new variable into the intraocular lens calculation formulae. He developed this variable after analyzing results of over 200 patients undergoing surgery, and now, he is coordinating a multicenter randomized study to test this variable. Mr. Arbabi has published many papers in highly reputable and peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Refractive Surgery and the British Medical Journal (BMJ) and has presented his work in national and international conferences. During his career, he has helped thousands of patients to discover the joy and freedom that eye surgery brings.
