Biography
Mr Mark Wevill has specialised in cataract and refractive eye surgery, which is surgery to correct vision and to remove the need for glasses and contact lenses using high tech lasers, advanced lens implants and other new treatments and technologies.
Mark Wevill was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995 and did his first cataract surgery operation in 1991 and his first LASIK laser eye surgery procedure to correct a patient’s vision in 1996. Of course, the precision and safety of both treatments has improved greatly with new technology and Mark ensures that he keeps up with new these new developments. But it’s good to know he has many years of experience and you won’t be his first patient! He has now done over 20 000 vision correction treatments.
He is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and has been awarded both UK postgraduate qualifications for refractive surgery (surgery to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses). These are the “Certification in Refractive Surgery” qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from the University of Ulster. He is also one of the select group of UK eye surgeons who is fully accredited to do SMILE laser eye surgery, implant ICL lenses for very high focus errors and do corneal cross linking.
Mark Wevill regularly shares his experience with his colleagues in scientific papers and presentations at national and international congresses and he has written chapters for textbooks in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery. Website
